Effective today (May 11), WestJet has introduced a fourth fare bundle and made changes to its change fee structure to offer lower fees to passengers.
The new fare bundle, called Plus Lowest, will join Plus Flexible as the second fare option under the Plus umbrella.
Plus Lowest offers the onboard Plus experience for a lower non-refundable fare with applicable change fees.
Travel agents will continue to earn eight per cent commission for both Plus Lowest and Plus Flexible.
The Plus Lowest fare bundle will include H and W fare classes, and the Plus Flexible fare bundle will include K fare classes.
Both Plus Lowest and Plus Flexible will enjoy the added comfort and onboard amenities that are included in our current Plus fares such as:
- Extra leg and elbow room (an empty middle seat on our 737 aircraft and wider seats on our 767 aircraft)
- Two checked bags
- Advance boarding
- Priority security screening (at select airports)
- Premium food and beverages (including beer, wine and spirits)
- Lounge access in London (Gatwick), LGW
Starting today, WestJet will also offer lower fees for changes made to bookings that depart outside of 60 days. Change fees will still be based on region. The regions include: Domestic; Transborder/International Sun; and Europe.
To compensate for the short notice, WestJet is providing a 30 day grace period. Until June 11, 2017, if the incorrect fee is charged for the 24 hour change/cancel rule, travel agents can contact the Travel Support Team (TST) at 1-877-664-3205 to receive assistance in correcting the file without penalty.
Full details on the change fees are available here.
